A photo etching of a sound echo chart displaying the depth of the worlds seas and oceans. The resulting data from this process of shooting sound waves down toward the seafloor and measuring the time it takes for it to echo back to the surface is used to determine the extent of a states continental shelf in order to maximise their maritime boundary.
